Why Isn't this Being Stopped?!?!?!
So I read one of my favorite blogs today and discovered this horror in our lives:
http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/the-worlds-rubbish-dump-a-garbage-tip-that-stretches-from-hawaii-to-japan-778016.html
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1821664,00.html
I know plastic is bad, we reuse and recycle. But I never dreamed the ocean was so polluted.
I feel like the movie Wall-e http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/the-worlds-rubbish-dump-a-garbage-tip-that-stretches-from-hawaii-to-japan-778016.html
is coming to fruition before my eyes! Plastic is taking over our civilization....okay I am feeling psyched out over this. But really, isn't this scarey to you too????!?!?

The Newest House Changes
So this is part of the transformation:
I now have skills and education of priming and painting over finished, sanded, stained wood. It only took me a few layers to learn through.
Ugly, huh? Well, Aaron has dealt with them and has now reseeded it all. Hopefully, it will look better soon. Not the curb appeal we had hoped for :-(

Makin' Dinner
What is fast, inexpensive and HEALTHY?

Well, a hearty bowl of oatmeal has become a standby this summer. With a pat of butter and some brown sugar.
After a hard day of work on the house preparations this has become a standby as one of our weekend dinners. It is so easy to make, filling, HEALTHY and comforting for tired bodies. And we all love it! And since I am well stocked on organic oats (25#) we will be able to munch on this economical dinner for many weeks, months.... however long it lasts! Though I promised to make steel cut oats next time, we have a bucket full of those as well!!!

Moving Step by Step
The progression of the changes in our life.
We told the kids we would work on our house for a year and then be ready in spring of 2009 to sell our house and by an acreage or "farm" as we have started to call it.
The kids don't understand a timeline, work list or selling a house and hardly conceptualize what a year is....
So they told Grammy that we are moving to a farm next year.
Grammy loves farms and misses the open space that she left at her farm in 2005.
So Grammy surfs the web and finds a great place that we all went to look at and loved.
That began this feverish, marathon to prepare our house to list it ASAP!
However that sweet little house sold within 3 days and so have a few other properties that caught our eye. Nevertheless we have persevered and this is how our summer of 2008 has been spent:

We painted the ivory kitchen to be white. Which included removing all of the cabinet doors.

Which waited in the garage for their new color!

The mailbox got a face lift and went from rusty black to glossy green.

The front yard was manicured and spruced up with much bark, petunias and many hours of labor.

Looking much nicer!

We ordered a storage container to be delivered so that we could load as we packed. Oh we decided to pack our house as if we would have to live in an apartment while we select our next property - we don't want to rush into any decisions!

Everything is looking quite attractive at this point. Our front yard is staged, check that off of the list!

We just sent the container, entirely filled, back to the storage yard. We spent over a month filling it up.

Summer Skills
Our days have been going swimmingly - all summer long
Here are some shots of our little fishes doing their thing. Actually we have one Dolphin and two Sharks. Don't they look so perky? Oops, one of the sharks is missing in action...will try to catch him this week.

A farewell party as a friend starts a new season in a new state
We parted ways with a sweet friend this month. We gathered to celebrate how our lives have been touched by this sweet friend. And the fellowship was wonderful!
We miss you dear friend. Swimming lessons aren't so fun without you :-(

Relativity and potty humor
A couple days ago, J was in the potty. (no, he's not still there)
However, he'd been in there a suspiciously long time. So the daddy alarm was beeping.
I looked in.
The toilet paper roll was off. Holder disassembled into it's component parts.
Curious, I started putting it back together and asked him what happened. He looked down at his toes. "Umm...I did it dad. But I got it back out again.".
"Out...umm...out of where?"
"The spring daddy. It fell in the toilet."
Oh. Great.
"Ok son...was this before or after you used the toilet?"
He then replies with a scandalized tone only a 4 year old can muster. "Daddy, I didn't poop or pee ON it!"
"Oh good..."
"No, it was just NEXT to the poop."
